Traffic is dedicated to the development of contemporary art and ideas. Through its varied initiatives it aims to increase understanding and appreciation for art within the national and global audiences it serves. It does so by providing a venue for constant learning and experimentation, holding stimulating exhibitions that push the boundaries of curatorial practice in the Middle East, and providing a platform for dialogue and education.
Traffic combines commercial gallery shows with public programming, and is the permanent home of The Farook Collection which spans over 300 works. The gallery's curatorial direction mixes art genres: international with Middle Eastern, traditional with street art, and fine art with new media, while focusing on works that address social issues and comment on world affairs.
The multi-purpose space in the heart of Al Quoz houses two galleries for the exhibition of commercial as well as collector’s shows, an artist residency studio and store called PRINT for contemporary arts publications. Traffic serves as a platform for both emerging and established artists, and encourages further dialogue through a varied program of film screenings and talks. Its overall aim lies in expanding public appreciation of contemporary art and facilitating a more sustainable arts community in the region.
Artists currently represented by Traffic include James Clar, Ayman Yossri aka Daydban, Abdulnasser Gharem, Ahmed Mater, Shaikha Al Mazrou, Hesam Rahmanian, Faisal Samra and UBIK.
